Lost bet leads to burning Xbox


In a recent forum post on gaming site ScrewAttack.com, Handsome Tom promised to blow up his Xbox if the Dallas Mavericks lost to Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Well Miami won, but Tom didn't back down on his word. Here is a video full of smoke, flames, and inspirational music as proof. At least that Xbox was so last generation.


E3: First few pictures from the show floor

Gamerscore Blog, the unofficial blog of Xbox employees, posted several pictures of the Microsoft E3 booth. The setup is pretty impressive and it's definitely worth a look. Let's hope for an sneak peek at the Nintendo and Sony booths.

EA's comprehensive E3 lineup

EA unveiled their E3 list today. With 8 titles under the EA Games brand, 2 under the EA Sports brand, and some possible surprises, EA's lineup is pretty darn big. But as far as we're concerned, only the games that are truly innovative count. And this year's big innovator from EA has to be Spore. The full list, after the jump.


Burger King confirms plan to distribute games

[image:641 align=left hspace=5 size=medium nolink=1]Kotaku put it all on the line by posting some images and information about Burger King's plan to create three video games that will act as interactive billboards. Now they are being threatened by some legal types. Apparently, the information was collected by The General Counsel for Greenfield Online, a company that researched demand for fast food video games. Their letter Kotaku said, They are claiming that posting the information infringes on their intellectual property rights.

Is Microsoft actually working on a portable gaming device?

If the story about the Origami didn't fill your appetite for rumors, then this will surely do the trick. Dean Takahashi from Mercury News posted a blog entry this morning claiming that Microsoft is indeed working to create a mobile gaming and entertainment device--or, in other words, an "iPod Killer". The device would allow its users to play games, music, and video.

"In a bid to capture the huge audience for handheld entertainment gadgets," wrote Takahashi, "Microsoft is designing a product that combines video games, music and video in one handheld device."


Two new Call of Duty titles leaked

Joystiq is reporting that a "reliable source" informed them that two new Call of Duty games will be added to the popular franchise. One will be set during World War II, as in past Call of Duty games. But the other will take a the franchise in a new direction. The game, called Call of Duty: Modern Combat, will take place during the present day. You'll fight on the front lines of the War on Terror in many locations around the world.


Next Rainbow Six will be set in Sin City

[image:543 size=medium align=left hspace=5]Ubisoft has announced that they've slated the fifth title in the Rainbow Six series, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, for an Autumn 2006 release on next generation and current generation consoles. The game will place you among the flashy lights and casinos of Las Vegas, as you and your counter-terrorism unit attempt to thwart a terrorist plot that could cause a global catastrophe.

Peter Jackson tips off possible King Kong sequel

During an interview with Yahoo! Games, Academy Award winning director, Peter Jackson, talked about his fascination with video games and hinted at a possible King Kong sequel. Between the wide array of games in the Lord of the Rings franchise and the epic multiplatform King Kong, Jackson has been involved with several video game projects in recent years.

LucasArts to release LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy

LucasArts announced their plan to release of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy for the 2006 American International Toy Fair in New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (the working title) was created by TT Games, developed by Traveller's Tales and is set to be released for the public in the fall of this year for all current seven gaming platforms (Nintendo DS, Windows, PlayStation 2, PSP, GameBoy Advance, GameCube, and Xbox).

25 to Life Review

[image:448 align=left hspace=10 vspace=10 size=medium]Nothing stirs up mainstream press, politicians, and parents quite like a game that is similar to the Grand Theft Auto series. 25 to Life created a lot of commotion over its subject matter in the months leading up to its release, but the game is far from front page status now. The game leaves you wanting to play San Andreas or Max Payne for a quality experience.

25 to Life puts you in the shoes of Freeze, a gang member who wants out of his dangerous business. His fellow gang members aren't too happy about his decision and set him up during his "last job." His wife and baby are kidnapped and he must get to the bottom of the entire ordeal.


Medal of Honor Airborne Announced

Another addition to the Medal of Honor franchise was revealed this week when EA announced that Medal of Honor Airborne will be released this Winter. Airborne will be the first Medal of Honor game available for next generation consoles including PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You will play as Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the 82nd airborne division. Each mission will begin with an airdrop, during which players can change their starting point on the ground by controlling their parachute. This feature will allow players to drastically alter the course of the mission.

The Da Vinci Code Revealed

Even if you haven't actually read The Da Vinci Code, you've at least heard of it. It's a murder mystery story with a taste of cryptography. 2K Games will produce a title based on the best-selling mystery novel for release in May 2006.
