Wii Shop Channel

I'm blogging from my Wii...

So it's going to be brief. I'm using the new Internet Channel and typing with the remote is not so easy. I took some video earlier only to remember that I sent my MacBook in for service so I can't edit. I'll post the walkthrough as soon as I get it back.

The browser is cool, but everything look fuzzy on my crappy TV. Typing is a little easier with the help of word suggestions, but half of the time it makes it worse by finishing words for you.

Original Mario plus four other titles to hit Virtual Console on Dec. 25

Nintendo has its own holiday surprises planned for December 25. Only you have to pay for it, and its not really a surprise since they announced it four days early. But whatever. Nintendo is releasing the original Super Mario Bros. on the Virtual Console for 500 points. Street Fighter II: The World Warrior from the NES, Super Castlevania IV from the SNES, Toe Jam & Earl from Genesis, and R-TYPE from the TurboGrafx16 will also go live on Christmas day, each for 800 points.

Nintendo will also add Baseball and Urban Champion from the NES on January 1 for 500 points.

Free Opera web browser is coming to Wii this Friday

The beta version of the Opera Internet browser for Wii will launch on December 22 as a free download from the Wii Shop Channel. The download unlocks the Internet Channel, which will allow you to browse any website using your Wii remote. The final version of the browser is scheduled to release at the end of March 2007 and will be free until the end of June. Starting in July, the browser will cost 500 Wii points. Opera is clearly excited; they even made this really stupid comic strip to celebrate.

The Forecast Channel, which also goes online this weektoday, will bring free weather information and 3D maps to your Wii.

[UPDATE: The Forecast Channel appears to be out. I just finished downloading the update. Video coming soon.]
