Guitar Hero II

Guitar Hero 80's Edition in EGM

RedOctane said they had plans to release some specialized editions of Guitar Hero back in March. They gave a few examples including country, rock, and metal, but they never said anything about 80's! The latest issue of EGM has some info about Guitar Hero: 80's Edition for the PS2, which has a spring release date but somehow remains officially announced. EGM said, "trust us, it's coming."

1UP hopes and I suspect that the content will be available for Xbox 360 as Marketplace downloads. Earlier this week, RedOctane announced that the Xbox 360 would receive Marketplace content, but did not specify just what those downloads would contain.

Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360: Ten new tracks and Marketplace content

Xbox 360 owners will be able to rock to a total of 74 songs when RedOctane releases Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360. Yesterday, the developer revealed that the Xbox 360 version will receive a total of ten new tracks and the ability to download more via Xbox Live Marketplace.

The graphics have also been updated to provide HD resolution images, and the new version will ship with a sleek new Gibson-shaped controller. Names of the new tracks announced so far are after the jump.

Guitar Hero fans will get their fix

It looks like our prayers will be answered. During an interview with Eurogamer, the CEO of RedOctane, Kelly Sumner, said that he expects to see five or six new Guitar Hero titles on shelves by the the middle of next year.

He confirmed Guitar Hero 2, as well as some other possible editions like Country Rock or Metal. Hopefully, the games will be available on more platforms.
