Take an early glance at Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers

[image:522 align=left hspace=5 size=medium]The original Full Spectrum Warrior took a new approach towards military style games. It combined the excitement of an action game and the logic of a strategy game to create a title that was quite unique and authentic. Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers will build upon the best elements of the first game to create an even more realistic combat experience.

The story within Ten Hammers will be told through the voice of a reporter, who follows your patrol and narrates certain elements. It's a clever way to get the story across and it should potentially add another level of realism by providing the point of view of a civilian. The bulk of the story is unclear at this point, but that isn't the real focus of the game. Ten Hammers is about overpowering and outsmarting you're enemy while he is trying to return the favor.

You'll have some great new tools to get the job done. Those familiar with the first game will appreciate the new buddy team system, which will allow a four-man group to split up into groups of two and cover separate ground. This becomes handy in situations where one buddy team needs to engage the enemy at one location, while the other buddy team simultaneously engages them from another location. Sometimes, an enemy will dig himself into a spot so well, that standard sector fire fails to eliminate him. The precision fire feature is great for these situations. With a few button presses, you can take control of a specific soldier, and order them to fire their weapon at a specific target. This feature is also great for launching grenades into enemy safe houses.

Sometimes, when an enemy has good cover along a path that you need to take, your only option is to enter a building and eliminate him from a higher point. When all else fails, call in the armor. Ten Hammers will give you the ability to control armored vehicles like the Bradley. They provide you with more firepower and portable cover for your teams.

Ten Hammers will receive some great new multiplayer features, but we didn't get to try any of them. I guess we'll just have to take THQ's word for it.
