Valve and Garry team up to sell Garry's Mod

[image:647 align=right hspace=5 size=medium nolink=1]The Half-Life Source mod called Garry's Mod, which allows players to get creative in a sandbox environment is going on sale for $10 through Steam. Garry's Mod, which has been free for everyone until now, also adds several interesting mini-game-like options such as multiplayer soccer and bridge building competitions. Garry's Mod will be the first third-party mod to be sold through Steam, and its $10 price tag makes it the cheapest product on Steam. The profits will be split 50/50 between Valve Software and Garry.

Garry's Mod has the benefit of a dedicated community that, for the most part, supports the move to monetize the software. The new arrangement means that Garry's mod will be fixed and improved for the foreseeable future.

the best part about this mod is the forums. its hilarious to go to the forums to see all of the people that he has auto-banned. you post a picture to big, banned. you say one swear word banned. post an non relevant post, banned. all the 12 year olds spaz when they get banned and he just laughes at them. and the garrys mod challenges are pretty good. like the ru-goldburgs machine thing(not even close to the right spelling but its cool) you will find some people have way to much time on there hands, like me, making this post.

I love how the first thing you see on the forums page is a friendly note explaining bans.

"Welcome to the forums! Don't be afraid! We're a bit harsh on people using AOL talk on the forums. We want people to type real sentences and to take the time to speel things right.

Bans aren't meant to be permanent, they're meant to be a huge warning to stop whatever you were doing. As punishment you lose your old account and have to re-register (if you want)."

They've got a point. I don't think I'm being picky when I says that I hate struggling to read some of the garbage that appears out here on the wild Internet. This is why my posts are usually properly punctuated?;! But we all have our own keyboards and we can abuse them all we want. Just a few deep thoughts from me.

Enjoy the Parade...
